1. This is one weakness in the recent National Congregation Study headed by Mark Chaves. At the American Sociological Association meeting in San Francisco in 1998, Chaves, the principal investigator for The National Congregation Study, did not, in any way, allude to para-church groups or their connections with congregations in his oral presentation of the initial findings from the study.
