    • The "classical" Kohn anomaly is due to electron-phonon coupling and in its strongest form can result in a charge-density wave. The wave vector related to this effect is given by a nesting vector of the Fermi surface (Ref.). In the case of a stripe-related anomaly, the difference is that stripes are supposed to originate from strong on-site coulomb repulsion (Ref.) and are not linked to the Fermi-surface topology.
