    • Complex monomer absorption energy was obtained based on complex monomer absorption recorded in buffer-40% CH3CN mixture when aggregate absorption was completely suppressed, while aggregate absorption energy was taken from spectra based on aggregate absorption recorded in pure aqueous buffer. Although the solvent systems are different, the present comparison is still valid as the solvent used for all the aggregate species and that for all the monomers are fixed. In addition, a change of the solvent from pure aqueous buffer to buffer-40% CH3CN mixture gave only minor MMLCT band shifts (< 10 nm) for all the complexes studied
