Calculations based on closely related ideas were reported in Refs. 19 and 21. In particular, in the approach of Ref. 19 the particles (or drops) were modeled as disklike objects. The magnitude of the scattered flow was estimated using the Hele-Shaw approximation combined with the volume conservation constraint, and the particle mobility remained an adjustable parameter (which was evaluated experimentally). The validity range of the single-scattering approximation is discussed in Ref. 20.
