A convenient way to estimate F(Δn) is to reorder the set {Δn(i)} of the N-1 experimental values into the series {Δn′(j)} such that Δn′(1)>Δn′(2)>... >Δn′(N-1). Plotting j/(N-1) versus Δn′(j) for j [1,N-1] gives a rather precise estimate of F(Δn). See, for instance, B.A. Berg and R.C. Harris, arXiv:0712.3852v1.
