Recombinant antibodies to an oxidized low-density lipoprotein epitope induce rapid regression of atherosclerosis in apobec-1 (-/-)flow-density lipoprotein receptorf-/-) mice. J Am Coll Cardiol 2007; 50:2313-2318. The first study to demonstrate that oxidized LDL-specific antibodies can induce regression of pre-existing atherosclerotic plaques. As the antibodies used are human, these results also support the notion that this type of treatment is feasable in humans.
