    • 4 is preferentially selected as the dopant for the Pani-SBu nano-spheres because, unlike the thermally unstable HCl dopant, it is a good and thermally stable dopant just like the aromatic sulfonic acids (e.g., TsOH or DBSA), but contains an element (e.g., Cl) other than S so that their actual doping level can be unambiguously determined by XPS Although there is no easy way to measure the distribution depth profile of the crosslinks within each individual nano-sphere, it is conceivable that the degrees of crosslinking between the surface (where the probability of encountering and reacting with the reagent of EDT is expected to be higher) and the center of the sphere may be different. For the outermost layers, the maximum allowable theoretical number of crosslinks may be as high as one per four repeat units JCPDS97 41-1487
