    • The estimate of average strain (εaxial) was calculated using the general formula for a beam in bending εaxial, · r/ρ, where r is the distance from the gold layer to the center of the polypyrrole and ρ is the radius of curvature of the nanofinger. Thus, for a 250-nm-diameter nanofinger with a radius of curvature of 5.1 μm the strain is εaxial, 0.125/5.1, 2.5 × 10-2 or -2.5
