13. Sarkozy warned that he would not allow an amnesty of prisoners convicted of killings. "No, there is no way. Not today, nor tomorrow," he said. Some separatist factions have been seeking a general amnesty for all prisoners they consider have been detained for "political crimes." They include in that the 1998 assassination of the island's governor, Claude Erignac.
