The contents of the discussion of book 2 are given on pp xii-xvii; it has ten chapters, which include material (shape of the earth, theory of the tides, theory of comets) from Newton's book 3. Therefore there is no 1-to-1 correspondence between [2] and [3]. An 1839 version of this work, by Brougham, did not include the material on book 2. Brougham, an amateur mathematician and physicist, is better known for a distinguished career as a jurist, for the eponymous Brougham carriage, and for being the likely source of acerbic commentary on Thomas Young's theory of the interference of light.
