Dscam2 mediates axonal tiling in the Drosophila visual system
-
This paper demonstrates that Dscam2 is a tiling receptor for L1 lamina neurons. Like Dscam1, Dscam2 uses homophilic repulsion as a mechanism for patterning. Dscam2 is the first tiling receptor to be identified.

Neurite arborization and mosaic spacing in the mouse retina require DSCAM

This paper is the first description of a DSCAM mutant mouse. The authors propose that mouse DSCAM uses a repulsive mechanism to mediate both self-avoidance and tiling in a subclass of amacrine cells.
