-
Weinstein S, Cua C, Chan D, et al.: Outcome of symptomatic patients undergoing extracardiac Fontan conversion and cryoablation. J Thorac Cardiovasc Surg 2003, 126:529-536. Ten patients undergoing Fontan revision surgery had empiric cryoablation and pacemaker implantation during the operation in an attempt to treat refractory atrial arrhythmias. Seven patients currently require no antiarrhythmic agents. Surgical mortality was 20%.

Acute hemodynamic benefit of multisite ventricular pacing after congenital heart surgery
-
Zimmerman FJ, Starr JP, Koenig PR, et al.: Acute hemodynamic benefit of multisite ventricular pacing after congenital heart surgery. Ann Thorac Surg 2003, 75:1775-1780. Twenty-nine patients with congenital heart disease and a wide QRS complex underwent multisite ventricular pacing for cardiac resynchronization. Multisite pacing led to improved cardiac index and increased systolic blood pressure.
