16. A system of abbreviated nomenclature was devised for the synthetic multi(catechoylamide) ligands based on CAM as an acronym for catecholamide groups. The numbers in the prefix (separated by commas) indicate the number of methylene groups in the connecting chains. This system has been extended to the tetrakis(catecholamide) ligands, by the use of H(m,n)-CAM, H(m,n)-CAM(C), H(m,n)-TAM, Oxo-H(m,n)-CAM, and Oxo-H(2,2)-TAM as acronyms for the corresponding ligands.
