    • Fernando Alzate is a plant taxonomist, interested in the phylogeny, evolution and biogeography of monocots, especially the order Liliales. He has a PhD in biology. Mario Alberto Quijano Abril is an MSc student in biology; he is interested in the biogeography of the Neotropical flora and has theoretical interests in historical biogeography methodologies, systematics and the taxonomy of Piperaceae. Juan J. Morrone is a professor of biogeography, systematics and comparative biology at the Facultad de Ciencias, Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM), Mexico, D.F.
