    • Interestingly, it appears that Simonet and co-workers may have prepared this compound electrochemically using conditions similar to those described in ref 1, but their attempts to characterize this product were frustrated by its exceedingly poor solubility, which is one of this compound's distinguishing characteristics. In the same report, several other, much more soluble, triphenylene derivatives were prepared and characterized using the same conditions. See ref 7f
