    • The 1/r behavior of the elastic stress field of dislocations breaks down at a few Burgers vectors from the dislocation line. However, the annihilation distance, which refers to the smallest dipole size, is usually an order of magnitude larger than that. This means that there exists a region with a 1/r stress field around each dislocation line in all physically reasonable dislocation configurations, which implies that the stress distribution function always has a noticeable dislocationlike tail at high stresses up to a certain stress determined by the dislocation core radius.
