4. Perhaps the most convincing evidence for parallel straight rolls is found in the experiments of Ref. [5] where the effect of sidewalls on the pattern was minimized introducing a radial ramp of the cell spacing near the cell wall which gradually reduced the convection amplitude to zero as the wall was approached.
