    • For a mode with (Formula presented) (Formula presented) means that the intensity of the peak is reduced by a factor of (Formula presented). Although the real peak hight should be still comparable to a mode with (Formula presented), the area under the peak is reduced by the same factor. Therefore, detected with an instrument with a resolution much worse than the real width of the peak, it is smeared out and the peak is smaller by the same factor and hence is unobservable
