    • We are aware that for 14-atom metallic clusters TM and RE do not, in general, adopt high-symmetry structures. Our choice of structure for the 14-atom cluster has been based on practical grounds.

    • Moseler and co-workers (Ref. 15) based on FP-DFT analysis of the spin isomers in Pd clusters reached a similar conclusion for the magnetization. We have to stress, however, that the physics underlying rare-earth metal clusters is quite different from transition-metal clusters, and thus our exact solution of the quantum Heisenberg strictly applies to the former.
