    • The chemical part of Δ E(L11;tetrahedron) for AB is equal to the average of the corresponding parts for the two separate L1 sub 2_ phases of A3 B and AB3. However, Δ E(L1 sub 1_; tetrahedron) for AB includes the elastic energy increase due to the size mismatch between A3 B and AB3, and thereby is larger than the average of the heats of formation of A3 B and AB3.
