    • This is justified because of the small change in volume between 150 and 177 GPa ( Δ V / V approx 7 % is estimated from the equation of state reported in Ref. 22). The same transition pressure is obtained if we assume the relative band energies vary linearly with density, as suggested by reported band-structure calculations (e.g., Ref. 2) (Ref. 16).
