    • -1 in a bulk solid spectrum in KBr. Possible explanations are that this mode would be nearly parallel to the surface and hence forbidden by surface selection rules or that the thiols oxidized to disulfides when the sample was transferred from the inert atmosphere where the SAMs were prepared to the RAIR chamber.
