24. 16 in order to prevent the formation of an 11β-17 ether from the 11β,17-diol intermediate, we had silylated (TBS) the 17-hydroxyl and then acetylated the 11β-hydroxyl. Removal of the silyl function, mesylation, iodide substitution and elimination had then afforded the 16-ene.
