    • note
    • An example of an intervention with a direct driver would be the forced removal of an alien invasive species colonizing a wetland to restore the ecological integrity. An example of interaction between proximate and direct drivers of change would be the role of governance systems in regulating (or not) climatic change and its direct effects. An example of interaction between proximate drivers and ecosystem service provision would be the use of cultural practices in maintaining biodiversity through community regulated use of natural resources.
