67. Neutron diffraction, as determined by Brockhouse and listed in, can only see the magnetic point group 3. However, for explaining the x-ray magnetochiral dichroism, observed in Cr2 O3, the lower symmetry point group 3 was suggested. But this group, which allows off-diagonal magnetoelectric coefficients, in addition to diagonal ones, was questioned, claiming that the experiment was not correctly interpreted. In fact, the experimental nonobservation of off-diagonal magnetoelectric coefficients (see Fig. 7) does not support such a reduction of symmetry.
