    • 2 upon heating could be due to the removal of water molecules present between the carboxylate groups and the positive charges. Based on the agreement between calculated and experimental interlayer spacings, we firmly believe that the collapse is due to a reorientation of guest species (analogous to that reported in the literature for LDHs pillared by terephthalate anions).
