The authors in ref 7 claim that they succeeded in freezing the molecular structure of the triplet state of DMABN during its submicrosecond lifetime (ref 6) by quickly immersing the DMABN solution into liquid nitrogen.

The effective solvent polarity can be deduced from the ET(30) value: cyclohexane, 31.2; benzene, 34.5; 1,4-dioxane, 36.0. It follows from these data that 1,4-dioxane has the largest polarity of three solvents, between that of diethyl ether (34.6) and tetrahydrofuran 37.4, See ref 1 for a more detailed discussion, also based on the polarity dependence of the ICT emission maxima
