    • In 2006, we entrusted the Library of the Chinese Academy of Sciences to do a survey on the number of China's nano-enterprises. The outcome indicates that the number of enterprises whose products involve the prefix of Nano is more than 1000. Probably not all these companies produce essentially Nano-products; some of them are only advertising their products claiming virtues of the Nano concept, because most people in China consider Nano to be synonymous with advanced science and technology, and believe that Nano-products should have novel efficiency and enhanced functions. At the moment, it is almost impossible to identify which products on the market are real nano-products, because we lack a regulation framework, standard analytical procedures, standard assay methods (methodological standards), etc., as need to be established at the national governance level.
