    • We recognize that the IR sensor measurement given by the Biotage Initiator Synthesizer™ is not likely to deliver an accurate measure of the temperature inside the capillary. However, we have not yet been successful in obtaining more accurate measurements, for example employing a miniature thermocouple, because such devices also couple with microwave irradiation leading to current and heating itself; this would lead to erroneous results. What we can say is that the temperature in or at the surface of the metal film is likely higher than 200°C, as read by the IR sensor, but less than 600°C, which is the melting temperature of borosilicate glass
