Phys. 67 1999 1216 Barker and Ross included imbalance and S NR in an Arrhenius model but were concerned with overall feedback effects rather than the no-feedback sensitivity. The connection between their notation and ours is: γ (B - R) = ε ; F a (B - R) = (1 + b) F A ; f d (B - R) = b / (1 + b). It follows that the B-R temperature T a given by F a = 2 σ T a 4 is not the top-of-atmosphere temperature T A, but some mean temperature of the upper layer
