This work focuses on unsedated office-based laryngeal surgery and reports the results for a large series of patients treated with three different lasers: pulsed dye laser, flexible carbon dioxide laser and the thulium: YAG laser. The indications, advantages and disadvantages of each laser are discussed.

Zeitels SM, Burns JA. Office-based laryngeal laser surgery with local anesthesia. Curr Opin Otolaryngol Head Neck Surg 2007; 15:141-147. This study compares the effects on tissue of three types of fiber-based laser: the pulsed dye laser, the pulsed KTP laser and the thulium laser. It discusses the possibility of treating laryngeal diseases with theses lasers using office-based laryngeal surgery under local anesthesia. The advantages and disadvantages are discussed.
