Similar deviations should be induced by an outside, uniformly charged plane in a long cylinder (far from the ends) and in the sphere (where the applied field is normal to the surface). The deviations at molecular distances from the boundary are also manifestations of sensitivity of the response to liquid structure. Larger curvature of the boundary and asphericity of multi-atomic molecules may reduce the regularity of molecular packing near the boundary and the deviations, cf. Figs.5,1,2 with 10,7.
