    • The formation of nitrogen hydrates can be ruled out We have performed separate neutron diffraction measurements (PEARL at ISIS, U.K.) on polycrystalline ice Ih at identical experimental conditions (140 K, 0.5 GPa) where even after 12 h no detectable amount of hydrates could be found.

    • We note that molecular solids commonly show well-separated translational and librational bands. Our lattice dynamical model cannot reproduce the librational bands. These start to be populated at T ≳ 100 K, which is why α shows deviations for 7 ≳ 100 K.
