This study forms part of Melanie Lancaster's PhD, which explored hybridization among fur seals at Macquarie Island. Paul Sunnucks codirects the Molecular Ecology Research Group at Monash University and Simon Goldsworthy manages the long-term fur seal monitoring program at Macquarie Island. S.D.G. and P.S. were M.L.L.'s PhD supervisors.
