20. The '2-one' (68% yield, yellowish crystals, mp 129-130 °C), a precursor for the coupling reaction, was made from its respective '2-thione' and mercury acetate, according to a known procedure by K. Hartke, T. Kissel, J. Quante and R. Matusch, Chem. Ben, 1980, 113, 1898.
