    • 5-Bromomethyl-2, 2′-bipyridyl was made essentially by the method ofJ. G., Eaves, H. S., Munro, D., Parker, J. Chem. Soc., Chem. Commun., 1985, 684, except that the free radical reaction was initiated by a Xenon lamp. The product was isolated from the reaction mixture by crystallisation from diethyl ether. (CAUTION! In common with other halomethyl pyridines, 5-bromomethyl-2,2′-bipyridyl is an extreme irritant.)
