    • Note that we consider only a single critical point that connects smoothly onto the bulk three-dimensional critical point as the plate separation becomes infinite. Specifically, we do not address the possibility of successive "" critical points (Refs. 12 and 13). In fact, in the lattice gas model discussed below such wetting critical points probably do not arise; even if they do, it seems likely that a roughening transition would truncate them at a temperature below bulk criticality.
