    • Crystal data of NaI3O8: Mr, 531.69 g mol-1, colorless square-prismatic crystal (0.2 x 0.3 x 0.3 mm3, tetragonal, space group P4 (no. 81, a, 8.082(1, c, 5.741(1) Å, V, 375.0(1) Å3, Z, 2, ρcalcd, 4.709 g cm-3, μ, 6.654 mm-1. NONIUS κ-CCD diffractometer, AgKα radiation (λ, 0.56087 Å, T, 293 K, 2θmax, 42.8°, 5444 measured and 830 independent reflections, R int, 0.027, R1, 0.017 (821 data with I > 2σ(I) and wR2, 0.039 (all 5444 data) for 55 refined parameters, GOF, 1.241, max./min. residual electron density 0.743/-0.828, Flack parameter 0.05(8, Corrections for Lorentz and polarization effects and empirical absorption correction (SADABS) were carried out. Structure was solved by direct methods with the SIR
    • 2, using the Shelxl software through the WinGX program suite. The refinement was performed with anisotropic thermal parameters for all atoms.
