33. NOTE: According to Kohlberg, an individual cannot be at more than one level and that each builds upon the next. This framework of moral development implies an irreversible linear evolution in individual decision making, with each stage taking on a wider domain of concern. However, decision making is contextual and individuals operate within multiple stages simultaneously. The actual stages of moral development defined by Kohlberg are: Level One-Pre-Conventional: 1. Obedience and punishment orientation. 2. Self-interest orientation: Level Two-Conventional. 3. Interpersonal accord and conformity. 4. Authority and social-order maintaining orientation: Level Three-Post-Conventional. 5. Social contract orientation. 6. Universal ethical principles.

NOTE: Data analyses previously discussed during a poster session at the 2006 Association for Library and Information Science Education conference and a presentation at the 2006 Electronic Resources and Libraries conference were based on an N = 64. It was discovered that four of these cases did not have complete ECQ data and were subsequently dropped from the sample.
