22. Light-emitting polymeric materials such as sol-gel organic/ inorganic hybrids gels have been found to display inherent emission, in absence of any classical luminescent probes (i.e., dyes, semiconductors). The emission in these types of materials is attributed to delocalized energy due to electron-hole recombination.
