9. 3 (9.03 g, 0.0654 mol) in 50 ml DMF and the solution was refluxed overnight. The resulting mixture was poured into water and precipitate was filtered. This crude sample was refluxed for 4 h with KOH (0.49 g, 8.8 mmol) in 50 ml ethanol. The reaction mixture was poured into ice cold water, acidified with dilute HCl and the precipitate was filtered, washed, dried and recrystallized from ethyl acetate. The yield of the product was found to be 60%.
