    • The grafting reaction was performed by sublimation of tetraneopentyl zirconium on a deuterated silica. Only monodeuterated neopentane arising from the reaction with silanol groups was taken into account (it has been reported that in same cases part of the complex decomposes during the sublimation). After reaction and elimination of the physisorbed species the supported complex was hydrolyzed in order to check the validity of data obtained during the grafting step (the sum of neopentane evolved during the two reactions was always 4.0 ± 0.2 per grafted zirconium).
