    • Acoustic phonons are bosons; they obey Bose-Einstein statistics. A BoseEinstein correction is absolutely essential to correct Raman intensities from low-lying modes. These modes are very strongly populated at high temperatures, hence their intensities are abnormally large, e.g., at 773 K (Ref. 2). High-frequency optic phonons are not so strongly affected by thermal population effects.
