She received her Ph.D. in political science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2005. Her research interests include political parties, state politics, and the roles of political institutions in policymaking. Kevin T. McGuire is Associate Professor of Political Science at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. His research focuses on the U.S. Supreme Court and its responsiveness to public opinion and the elected branches of the federal government. He is the co-editor, with the late Kermit L. Hall, of Institutions of American Democracy: The Judiciary (Oxford University Press, 2005).
