    • In the Embryos Act the legislature has allotted some tasks to review committees that already exist pursuant to the Medical Research (on Human Subjects) Act. According to this Act several so-called 'peripheral' review committees are to judge human research protocols. One Central Committee has been established for the review of some specific human research protocols and to function as an appeal committee. According to the Embryos Act this Central Committee is now to review also embryo research protocols (Article 3), whereas the peripheral committee in question should give it's opinion on the 'general' institution's protocol relating to the use of gametes and embryos (Article 2).
