In an unpublished study of model reactions for the polymerization of diacids with 4, we found that adduct 13, chromatographically isolated from a mixture of 13 and 14 formed by heating propanoic acid with phenyl glycidyl ether in diglyme containing TBAB at 140 °C, re-equilibrates when subjected to the same conditions to a mixture of both 13 and 14 in the same ratio (about 3/1) originally obtained from the acid-epoxide condensation.
