9. Not all countries labeled "Third World" are poor, uneducated, and rural. Venezuela has a per capita income comparable to that of France, Uruguay has 100% literacy, and Brazil and Argentina have very urban cultures. These three words are proffered not as a description or definition of "Third World" but rather only as common connotations associated with the term in mainstream U.S. culture.
