We take the opportunity to record here the structure of an array similarly disordered, but in the context of a trigonal planar [CuX 3]2- system, namely, Ph3MeP][CuI 2Br, prepared by reaction of 2[Ph3MeP]I, CuBr in acetone, one formula unit, devoid of crystallographic symmetry, comprising the asymmetric unit of the structure, iodine populations in the three independent halide sites refining to 0.905(4, 0.866(4, 0.766(5, bromine components complementary, Cu-'X' are 2.5530(5, 2.5400(5, 2.5178(5) Å, X-Cu-X (opposed) 115.87(2, 121.01(2, 123.12(2)̊. This compound shows v(CuI, 156, vCuBr, 177cm-1 in the far-IR, Ph3MeP]2[CuI2Br, modelled as [Ph 3MeP]2[CuI2.54Br0.46, C 38H36Br0.46CuI2.54
