It is worth noting, though, that even if this special issue was not conceived as a volume on the moving image, four out of the eight essays articulate new theories of queer temporality through the lirne-based art of film, which offers so much metacommentary on time and, indeed, makes temporality visually apprehensible. The most extensive history of the linkage between film as a technology and the recalibration of time as an experience is Mary Ann Doane, The Emergence of Cinematic Time: Modernity, Contingency, the Archive (Cambridge, MA: Harvard University Press, 2002).
