This study involved 193 patients randomized to either mitral valve surgery alone or mitral valve surgery plus Acorn Corcap cardiac suport device, making it the largest published trial to date of a passive constraint device. Results showed showed that in patients undergoing mitral valve surgery, addition of the Acorn CorCap clearly provides additional benefits including reverse remodeling and improvement in quality of life.
